Upton Robotics Places at State VEX V5 High Stakes in Gillette
On March 8th, the Upton High School Robotics team competed in the VEX V5 High Stakes Wyoming State Championship in Gillette today. They earning a third place finish against some of the toughest teams in the state.
The competition, held at the Thunder Basin High School, featured top robotics teams from across Wyoming, all vying for a chance to showcase their engineering skills, programming expertise, and strategic gameplay. Upton’s team demonstrated resilience and creativity throughout the event, overcoming technical challenges and tough matchups to secure a strong final ranking.
We’re really proud of how we performed, said one of the team members. There were some intense matches, but we kept improving and working together as a team.
The VEX V5 High Stakes competition challenges students to design, build, and program robots capable of completing complex tasks in a dynamic game environment. Teams must navigate autonomous and driver-controlled rounds, demonstrating both mechanical precision and strategic decision-making.
Upton Robotics success at State is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the students and their mentors. With this strong performance, the team looks forward to further refining their skills and preparing for future competitions.
As Upton continues to grow its robotics program, this achievement marks another step forward in fostering STEM education and competitive excellence in the region.

Wyoming FBLA State Officers Lead Middle School Conference in Douglas
On March 4, Wyoming FBLA state officers took charge of the State Middle School FBLA Conference in Douglas, WY, providing an engaging and educational experience for young leaders. This event brought together middle school FBLA members from across the state to participate in workshops, competitions, and leadership activities designed to strengthen their business and leadership skills.
The state officers played a key role in organizing and facilitating the event, leading sessions on professionalism, teamwork, and the fundamentals of FBLA. Through interactive activities and mentorship, they helped middle school students gain confidence and prepare for future leadership roles in FBLA and beyond.
By stepping up to run the conference, the state officers demonstrated the core values of FBLA leadership, service, and education. Their efforts ensured that Wyoming middle school members had an inspiring and impactful experience, setting the stage for continued success in FBLA.

Congratulations to James Locke who is a recipient of the Wyoming Trustees Scholarship! This is the University of Wyoming's premier scholarship for the best and brightest Wyoming high school seniors who typically average a 3.95 GPA and 32 ACT. James was chosen among his peers after an arduous application and interview process. Congratulations James!

Twenty-two students, including Upton High School student Kelly Cork was nominated by her CTE teacher, Karla Ludemann as a potential future CTE teachers.
Kelly has been honored with a nomination for the prestigious “See Me Teach CTE” program, recognizing her outstanding dedication and excellence in Career and Technical Education.
The See Me Teach CTE program is designed to recognize and support outstanding students who aspire to become Career and Technical Education (CTE) teachers. It highlights individuals who demonstrate a passion for CTE fields, leadership in their programs, and a commitment to shaping the future of technical education. Through this program, nominated students receive opportunities for mentorship, professional development, and exposure to the teaching profession, helping to build the next generation of CTE educators.

Esports is Off and Running for the Spring Season with PlayVS

The spring season of high school esports is officially underway, with teams across the country competing through PlayVS, the leading platform for scholastic esports. As students sharpen their skills and teamwork, this season promises intense competition, thrilling matchups, and new opportunities for players to showcase their talent.
Esports has exploded in popularity at the high school level, providing students with an avenue to compete, develop leadership skills, and even earn scholarships for college programs. PlayVS, the official esports provider for NFHS (National Federation of State High School Associations), has played a pivotal role in organizing structured, state-sanctioned competitions across a variety of popular titles.
This season, teams are battling it out in games such as Chess on Tuesdays, Super Smash Brothers Ultimate on Wednesdays and Fortnite on Thursdays.
For many students, the PlayVS season is more than just competitions a pathway to college scholarships and future careers in gaming, broadcasting, and game development. Many universities now offer esports scholarships, and high school players who perform well in the PlayVS leagues have a chance to get noticed.
With the spring season now in full swing, players and teams are gearing up for regional and national championships. As esports continues to grow, PlayVS remains at the forefront, ensuring students have access to competitive, structured, and rewarding opportunities in gaming.
